I have been sculpting my new V2 killing mask for about a week now, and im going to be
be posting updates on this forum when i make meaningful progress, but for now here is what i was able to do so far!
my previous sculpt was done at a time when i was lacking in information, so i was really limited in references, and it show in the final product, but now, i have learned and found a great amount of info and references about not only the killing mask, but also the person who’s face was used to make it, Bill J. Parsley, and with these references, i have been able to prepare myself for straight forward process, by getting accurate mesurements, the outline of his head, and of his profile.
as for the killing mask, i have made guidelines for its more unique features, such as the neck creases and the mold defect on the nose, so with all these references printed and ready for use, i started making the sculpt.
i started by drawing a straight line through a MDF board and tracing the outline Parsley’s headshape on it, as you can see in the last photo, on the upper right, i made a newspaper/aluminum foil, plastic wrap/ducktape ball to fill the sculpt and save clay for more important stuff.
i then filled the iside of the outline with clay wrapping around the “fill ball”, and got it as close as possible to the outline.
after that i addedmore clay beyond the outline, and using a triangle ruller, i scraped the exess clay away, bringing it back to the head shape outline, making the bourders of the sculpt straight, and the right shape.
then i gave the sculpt a more human shape so that i could not only mark the proportions, but also easily build the profile on top of it.
i then sketched the measurements on the sculpt, since it would be easier now without the profile sculpted in, after doing this, i was going to sculpt the profile outline into the sculpt, but when i went back to the mesurement image print, i found out that the prints i was using all this time were not set to 100% size at the printing service, so EVERYTHING was smaller the it should be, trying to fix it would be more trouble then it was worth soooo…
i decided to start over, it was the best option, its like they say, “dont get attached to your art” LMAO.
today, i got the references re-printed, and made sure they were at 100% size, and now have re-drawn the center line and headshape outline on the MDF board, i try and ad get back to where i was by the end of the week if possible, it should be easier now that i already did it once, but we will see LOL!
be sure to stay tuned, see ya soon! - the Villain
