im working on rebuilding my early model Poulan 245a
A while ago I purchased a Poulan 306a, I slowly converted it into a 245a and for the last step I repainted it using a custom oil paint. unfortunately there were a couple problems with this saws paint, it was the wrong color being slightly too green, and since it was oil paint i was able to run the saw as the paint would melt away.
thankfully, recently i came across a true early model poulan 245a on marketplace for $165 after shipping. i instantly bought it and when it arrived i noticed something. the chainsaw included a part that meant it was a 245SA (the original films was 245A the difference being either a semi automatic oiler, or automatic oiler) due to this ive decided to take the covers and put them on my 306a as the 306a had newer and better parts
nice catch, this build looks incredible!
That looks incredible, well done!
The Saw is Family
i love seeing the different aspects of the hobby. this is sick
just cleaned up the saw, im sending it over to a buddy who does chainsaw restoration and he is going to hopefully get it to a decent condition again
you have any rough eta on when it will be back in your hands?
well ill probably have it sent to the guy around tuesday next week or maybe this weekend, and then depending on the condition i have no clue how long itll take
ok sick keep us updated
Update:
My chainsaw parts arrived at DeansSmallEngines house, where he will then restore it to working condition!
brooooo… i can oly imagine how loud this beast will roar once its in tip top shape! please be sure to post a video of it running in the future! ![]()
will do! I unfortunately will have to pay for a full rebuild of the piston in order to retain the original yellow color but hopefully it’ll be worth it!
Dean is a friend of mine, he’s a great dude and will work magic on that saw ![]()
Unreal lol
