The Vehicle/Prop List - TCM 1974

This is a List dedicated to the iconic Vehicles and mass produced props that were used in the production of TCM 1974, if i forget to mention your favorite prop, or just got something wrong be sure to tell me about it so i can adjust the list.

THE PROPS:

  • Ed Guinn’s Pipe Wrench

the wrench used by the Cattle Truck driver played by Ed Guinn was a #14 Made In Spain Guaranteed Pipe Wrench.

  • The Family House Generator

the Generator Engine used to power the Family house in the movie is a Wisconsin S-14D Engine Generator.

  • Franklin’s Utility Knife

the Pocket knife that Franklin uses in the movie to carve up the side of the van is a Boy scouts of America 4 piece utility knife (bsa shield ver.).

  • Hitchhiker’s Polaroid Camera

the polaroid camera that the hitchhiker uses to freak Franklin the fuck out is a Polaroid Automatic 230 Land Camera.

  • Hitchhiker’s Straight Razor

the Straight Razor used by the hitchhiker through out the movie is a Soligen German made Straight Razor, there is no specific brand that i can tell, so as long as the blade and handle look the same, its game.

  • Jerry’s Shirt

the shirt that Jerry wears during the movie is a long sleeve button up shirt made with a Screenprinted Fabric, i am unaware of who made the shirt, but the fabric must have been mass produced for it to have “old Stock”.

  • Pam’s B&W Horoscope book

in the movie, we can see Pam reading two books about Horoscopes, the first one to be seen is a 1970 edition copy of Llewellyn George’s A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator.

  • Pam’s Red and silver Astrology book

in the movie, we can see Pam reading two books about Horoscopes, the second one to be seen is an April 1973 issue of American Astrology.

  • The Family Property Hanging Nail Clock

when Pam and Kirk are exploring the family’s property, the camera zooms on a watch that has a nail punched right through it being hung on a tree, the specific model clock used is a Westclox Scotty Shock Resistant Pocket Watch.

  • Leatheface’s Chainsaw

the Chainsaw that we see leatherface use Through out the entire movie is a 1971 - 1973 early model Barn Yellow Poulan 245a.

THE VEHICLES:

  • The Teen’s Green Van

the Van that the teens in the movie use through out Muerto County, Texas, is a 1972 Ford Econoline Club Wagon Van with the back portion of the silver trim removed, and the whole back seat removed, because, during filming, not only did they have to fit all the actors in there, but also the director (Tobe Hooper), the camera man (Daniel Pearl), the Boom mic man (Wayne Bell) and the Location sound recorder (Ted Nikolaou), all in one van, when they removed the back seat, they left it on the side of the road just while they were shooting, but when they went back for it, it was no longer there.

  • Highway Red Truck that make Franklin go downhill

the loud ass truck that made Franklin roll down hill at the start of the movie was a Red WHITE 7000 with a 1973 LUFKIN End Dump Trailer.

  • The Drunk Guy’s Black Pickup Truck

the pickup truck that the group of drunks is hanging aroun at the cemetary is a black 1951 GMC New Design.

  • The Cook’s White Pickup Truck

the Pick up that the Cook uses in the movie to bring sally from the Gas Station to the Family House is a 1953 White Chevrolet 3100 Pickup with a custom side mirror and turning signals on the top.

  • Ed Guinn’s Black Maria Red Cattle Truck

The Cattle Truck called Black Maria that the Cattle Truck Driver played by Ed Guinn Drives is a Custom Red 1961 Peterbilt 351 Cattle Truck made to the Cattle Truck Driver’s Liking.























(unfortunatly the Truck was being sold because some Big Back Bitch and a mummy decided to sue the Owner).

  • Sally’s getaway Blue Pickup truck

the Pickup Truck that Sally hopped on to escape Leatherface at the end of the movie was a Blue 1971 Chevrolet c-series Pickup.

Can I make a request on the Hammer that John Dugan uses to hit Marilyn with? I know Bob Bobs made a rubber version but I believe it was based on a real hammer?
