themaskgallery is well known for the high quality, beautiful masks he makes, but some of his earlier work is just as interesting, one that comes to mind is the one that was featured as the last post on the “Leatherface Masks Collectors” facebook profile.
i remenber about 2 years ago, when i was still running like a cockroach searching for info anywere, i came across this profile, and looked at the pictures above, that mask looked wierd, but in a good way, sure gave it a realistic feel, and made me become even more interested in leatherface mask replicas, as of today, i had almost forgot about it, until, while i was searching on japanese websites for more japan TCM promotional material, i instead found this.
10 years later, the same exact mask is now being auctioned off on Yahoo Japan, there are 4 days left to it, its kinda wierd to see this mask again… in japan, i checked the images from the auction on google lens to make sure it wasnt a a scam, and the actual one was being sold somewhere else, but nope, nothing else came with the same images, and surprisingly, during this search i found a older listing for it… also from japan.
this listing sold it for 87.83 dollars, its sure is interesting to be reminded that just like me, there are big fans of of the movie and community that are not only from the US.
